Bio

Danny Descalzo is an experienced and respected drummer, percussionist and vocalist in the San Francisco Bay Area.

His recording and performance credits are extensive. Danny has been awarded 5 Gold records for his studio work with world-renowned Norteno artists Los Tigres Del Norte.

He also performed on the Latin Grammy winning "Herencia de Familia." Danny has performed/ recorded with are some of the finest artists in the area, including: Atlantic Recording Artist Baxter Robertson, Curb Records Artists Cactus Choir, Max Records Artist Mick Overman, Matt Nathanson, Fred McCarty, Robert Temple, and Moe's Kitchen to name a few. He has also been a member of the acclaimed Garcia Bros. Band for over 20 years.

He has also been a member of The Jesse Charles Band, outstanding vocal group Triple Play, The Groove Kings and local legends Daddy-O.

Danny has been teaching privately for over 20 years and brings passion and knowledge to his practice. He has a strong sense of the skills required in the "real world" to help his students achieve their goals.

He is an endorsed artist/educator for the Vic Firth Education Team and is a highly rated member of thumbtack.com, the respected teaching network.

Danny's teaching practice has also been endorsed by world class drummer and percussionist Walfredo Reyes, Jr. and is on the Board of Directors of the California Schools and Day Care Association LLC.

He has studied with renowned drummer/author Pete Magadini and world class drummer Walfredo Reyes Jr. and is currently coaching/consulting 3 drumlines in the San Mateo area. The Central Middle School Drumline in San Carlos as part of the music program directed by Ms. Kristin Kunzelman, the Bowditch Middle School Drumline under the auspices of Mr. Jason Mcelroy and the Sequoia High School Line under the direction of Jane Woodman.

He has also been a guest educator for the Peninsula Youth Orchestra and a clinician at both Capuchino High and School of Rock.

In 2009 he created and currently distributes a personal annual drum scholarship program which offers young percussionists in the San Mateo area tuition-free lessons for those who might not otherwise have access to private studies.
