Our Drumline rehearsals are going so well!
Thanks to Matt, Erin, Lesley, Julia, Taylor, Roddy, Ross and Dominic for  their participation. If your interested  in joining, ask your instructor or contact me.

It's really cool that 2 of my most accomplished students are both drummers for 2 different Jazz Schools and they are head to head competitors...Scott Lowrie @ The San Francisco High School All-Stars and Roddy Galli @ The Jazz School in Berkeley. I'm so proud of both these young fine musicians.

Just found out tonight...9/7/08 that Scott  Lowrie made the cut for the San Francisco High School All-Star Jazz Band... along with some of the best young jazz musicians from the entire West Coast. These guys will be touring, playing and having itineraries in front of them that will have them playing the Monterery Jazz Festival.

Update... I just saw Scott make his debut with the All-Stars at the Great American Music Hall on Sunday, October 19th  and they were unbelievably good!!

For more info on his performances, go to www. myspace/Scott Lowrie.
Scott and his group  The Jazz Tones perform every Wednesday and Saturday at
B st and Vine in San Mateo from 7 to 10pm.

Roddy Galll
i has so much going on as of late it's almost impossible to keep up...he's  just  been accepted into the Jazz School in Berkeley as one of  the Big Band drummers and combo drummers. Very excited about that. These guys play the Monterey Jazz Festival and many other festivals and events...congratulations Roddy!

Roddy is also performing regularly on Saturday nights @ The Top of the Mark from 9:30 to 12:30 with Ricardo Scales and his band.
Roddy then plays Sunday mornings with the Macedonia Baptist Church Choir in San Francisco for Sunday Mass starting @ 11am.

You can see also see him perfoming on You Tube as well in the Stanford Jazz Camp 2008. Just type in Roddy Galli.

Roddy  will be performing with the Berkeley Jazz School Band on Monday November 17
@ Yoshi's in Oakland  from 7 to 8pm.  I will certainly be attending that show!

Dominic
Ferrario  and friends started the new Drumline @ Carlmont High School.
I just saw the performance of the line at Carlmont's Homecoming and the crowd went wild!
More people now want to join...Dominic and the line, they have started a tradition and I couldn't be happier about it!

Props go out to Tom Rogge who auditioned and made it into the Bowditch Middle School Jazz Band. This is  Tom's first time in the Jazz Band chair...very cool...

Matt Bertken is back in the drum chair for The CSM Combo Jazz Band on Tuesday nights. He's keeping up a busy schedule with his jazz band at school and his participation in our drumline as well.
